Hanging On 03:53
Who cut you down outside the bar? With a steel blue pipe beneath his arm? It's been almost thirteen weeks gone by Who cut you down and left you cold? Making good on bets that you had blown Cutting through the flesh they had sewn It was just last night they checked you in Wiped you down and threw your blues away Baby hold on It's just too much You hangin' on Baby don't go You're just too strong They had a gun And now you're done Watch yourself the spotlight turns you on Fly too high, it's sure to bring you down Wallflowers die someday, you know But you can wait, you can wait You can wait a little longer You were always certain weren't you boy Who could burn your blue eyes Bear the brunt It's been almost 13 weeks gone by Who cut you down and left you cold? Baby hold on It's just too much You hangin' on Baby don't go You're just too strong They had a gun Now you're done hangin' on

She's in the kitchen where she likes to go and hide I'm in a planet on the other side baby please forgive me because we're going for a ride and it's gonna test your patience wait another day, so far away will we get the time to find some peace i'm not trying to turn you off or tell you lies baby please forgive me the road, it slipped away the time, we tried to waste and I'm a castaway for you please forgive me

Lovely Day 02:47
It's a lovely day for you, girl Cast aside the weight for a while You got me running in circles All I wanna see is your smile Wipe away the past with a flicker Just go on and give it a try I can see the whites of your necklace As I go by Could it be love? Love's waiting it's just love When it gets cold I'll cover up your skin and we'll get old together Just before dark we watch the burning sunset it's so beautiful like you baby
10.
So, pack your bags and go You're a foolish man with foolish plans you know All the broken deals All the washed up reels and the rubbish in your wake Where are you going? Where did you go? When will find the time is right spend the night

Mary Anne 02:56
Mary Anne is gone now But she used to paint my lips and I'd chip away her smile across the dark miles Mary Anne was stoned out but she wore a pretty smile collecting all the while she's worth a fortune but she's gone now I was dirty you were cutting glass chronic misfits of the moral class take the grave stones of the ones I love You went back home and now you're lonely Mary Anne was thrown out but she tore her way back in while sipping dirty gin and making babies but she's gone now

about

Recorded in Boston, New York and San Francisco during the year of 2006. From Telegraph Hill is the second official Vinyl Skyway studio release. On the eve of its release in 2007, the Boston Globe profiled the album:

"Great artists create beauty from catastrophe, and writing pop songs -- ravishingly lovely ones that seem to effortlessly glide, soar, and transcend whatever tragedies inspired them -- is something that Michael Hayes does supremely well. At its heart, this is a headphone record of exquisitely crafted pop -- principal songwriter Hayes has an apparently limitless capacity for melody and hook -- by turns breezy and shimmering ("Lovely Day" ), Beatles es que ("Sleepwalking" ), ornate and lush ("Hangin' On" ), and stripped-down and minor-key melancholy ("Mary Ann" ). "From Telegraph Hill" has the air of a breakthrough record."

In the summer of 2005, Michael Hayes and Andy Santospago decided to promote their 2004 debut release on the west coast, performing at festivals and clubs. To make this even more interesting, the two sought out support from Hayes' former Lemonpeeler bandmates, drummer Booth Hardy and bassist Rob Pevitts. The chemistry on the tour was so strong that the group would commute from coast to coast during 2006 for the creation of the album. Keyboardist Dave Lieb was kidnapped by the band during a recording session at Kissy Pig in Boston.

In February of 2007, the band took up residency at the Lizard Lounge in Cambridge, MA, and played a host of shows and festivals to generate interest.
